Our 100% commitment to patient hygiene.
At Bay Dental at the Pointe, Dr Cisternas and his dedicated dental team take very seriously patient protection from infectious diseases.
We understand fully that each time a patient visits our office they place a special trust into our hands. This is something that we do not take lightly. Therefore we are 100% committed to providing our patients with the maximum protection for them against any infectious disease.
In the construction of this office we placed many hours into the design of our infection-control system that we now have in place. It is also something that we constantly evaluate and look to improve upon.
The process of infection controls and these precautions helps to protect patients and staff alike. Everyone benefits from the rigorous infection control that we undertake - you, your dentist, and the dental team.
We implement the following Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These measures include:
- Disinfectant hand soap that we use constaly and Instant Hand Sanitizer
- Sterile nitrile gloves and sterlile face masks
- Hospital-grade chemical disinfection using wipes of counter tops and room surfaces
- Rigrous sterilization of all equipment before every use
- Disposable materials meaning what we cannot re-sterilize we can dispose of
In order to keep everything 100 per cent sterile we always sterilize all reusable equipment. We use a Statim as well as an autoclave. These highly advaned devices kill bacteria and viruses by steam, heat and pressure.
The sterilzation process between patients consits of attending to the treatment rooms where they are thoroughly wiped with a surface disinfectant. The dental instruments used are put through a system of ultrasonic scrubbing (the same system a jeweler might use to clean fine jewelry). These are then sterilized with a large, pressurized steam oven called an autoclave.
There are many step and i details which make up ourinfection-control system. Our staff members are thoroughly trained in every single aspect of these infection-control procedures.
It is our goal by making you our patient more aware of what measures we take and adhere to on your behalf. We hope that by doing this your trust and confidence in our team will make your visits a little more comfortable.
